Traditional audio-visual archives are nowadays being replaced by digital multimedia content management systems. These systems manage the audio-visual data itself as well as additional logging information (meta-data). To actually make these resources available and capitalize on their content usually manual annotation by experts is required, which makes the task of logging not only time-consuming but also very expensive. Especially in view of the rapid expansion of digital media, tools to facilitate or automate this process become indispensable. In this paper, we describe the integration of real-time speech and language technologies into a multimedia archiving system.
