The HENSOLDT Analytics team was proud to attend the Defense Expo Korea 2022 (DX KOREA 2022) alongside the HENSOLDT colleagues from the company’s international divisions. The event took place September 21-25, 2022.
DX KOREA the only exhibition specialized in land forces equipment in Korea and hosted by AROKA (Association of the Republic of Korea Army) & co-organized by KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency). The 2022 edition was particularly important for HENSOLDT as it marked the first time the Media Mining System OSINT solution was presented in South Korea.
Showcasing AI-based Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) at DX KOREA 2022
“We foresee an increased likelihood that open-source intelligence will be increasingly combined with a lot of other intelligence technologies, such as geospatial intelligence, measurement and signature intelligence, human intelligence, just to name a few,” says Nathan Manzi, head of Asia-Pacific at HENSOLDT.
In today’s world, we are surrounded by a wealth of information, and the ability to collect open-source data from multiple sources and turn it into actionable intelligence is vital for many sectors. The open-source intelligence (OSINT) market has been revolutionised over the past two decades. The power of using this type of information to increase situational awareness has gained significant attention.
While the defence and security sectors were once the mainstays of OSINT, applications including law enforcement, politics, natural disaster management, critical infrastructure protection, business intelligence and public health surveys are also gaining popularity. OSINT can include many different data types from multiple sources, such as TV, radio, print, YouTube, social media, websites, RSS feeds and other electronic documents, often incorporating several thousand sources in real-time.
