PIN POINT National risk management for CSDP missions using OSINT and PNT monitoring PINPOINT deals with the planning and implementation of Austrian participation in European missions on behalf of the European Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).

These missions typically take place in critical international border areas of remote countries with little infrastructure to monitor ceasefires and implement peace agreements to ensure European and thus Austrian security. In order to plan the Austrian participation in such missions, the PINPOINT stakeholders need approaches for a systematic, comprehensive risk analysis and proposals for remedial measures based on ethical, socio-political, demographic, (human) rights, ecological and technological information. Based on the requirements of the users, the PINPOINT approach focuses on innovations in the areas of (1) remote risk analysis with derived recommendations for action, (2) open source intelligence (OSINT) with the support of artificial intelligence (AI) and (3) PNT monitoring on GNSS data.

A main focus of the research will be the applicability of the research results for non-experts of PINPOINT users in order to be able to support them effectively and thus strengthen Austria’s security. The primary project results consist of a systematic and comprehensive approach to risk analysis, with derived options for action for the users. The innovative content of the project results in particular from the interdisciplinary approach to risk analysis from ethical, security policy and technical points of view.

Finally, the project will be presented at European conferences and an exploitation roadmap will be drawn up for relevant results between the partners. project leader Martin Boyer AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH List of other project or cooperation partners Austria Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES) e.V.
