In January 2021, SAIL LABS Technology GmbH was acquired by the sensor specialist HENSOLDT and became HENSOLDT Analytics.

SAIL LABS (now HENSOLDT Analytics) Research members Dorothea Thomas-Aniola, Gerhard Backfried and Erinc Dikici attended the kick-off of the H2020 project ROXANNE at IDIAP, in Martigny, Switzerland, on the 3rd and the 4th of September.

The multidisciplinary project aims to develop a novel platform combining the advances of speech, language and video technologies with criminal network analysis. The platform will assist law enforcement agencies in their daily activities, ultimately speeding up their investigative processes as well as reducing the cost and burden to the society caused by organized crime activities.

ROXANNE is bringing together 24 European partners consisting of technology providers and the strongest organizations in the field of crime investigation and monitoring.

Collecting and analyzing the evidence of a crime can easily exceed the capabilities of teams as investigators often deal with large and dynamically changing criminal cases. Therefore, the concept of ROXANNE is to provide a robust and efficient means of identifying and tracking criminals through speech, text and video data with the goal of reducing the investigation time and costs for law enforcement agencies through an innovative approach to data protection, such as privacy by design.

The ROXANNE project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement № 833635.
